Our trip to Diner Deluxe

After watching You Gotta Eat Here and seeing the restaurant "Diner Deluxe", located just a short 30 minute bus journey from our house, we decided to get up early this Saturday and go check it out. By get up early, I mean 6:15. AM. On a SATURDAY. I said it better be the best breakfast I'd ever had, and it didn't disappoint.

Here is a picture of the sign in front of the restaurant.
The website advised us to come early on the weekend as the line forms quickly. We arrived promptly at 7:20 (the doors open at 8) and were the first ones there.

As you can see, I'm not big on mornings. But I pressed on in the name of good food.

The first Thing we ordered was Maple Fried Oatmeal... slabs of baked oatmeal, deep fried with a vanilla bean sauce and lemon curd on top. OH MY GOD. It was unreal.

Craig is enjoying his oatmeal!

After the oatmeal we ordered Eggs Benedict because they make their own hollandaise sauce and apparently it's the best thing ever. Craig got classic eggs with ham, and I got mine with chorizo sausage and spinach. Let me tell you, their sauce is AMAZING, and the eggs benedict as a whole was really good. Even their hashbrowns were a mix of regular potatoes and a bit of sweet potato, a nice addition.

It was a lot of food!

So overall our first visit to Diner Deluxe was great. We were the first in, the first to order, everything came out hot and fresh and delicious. We were so stuffed we got most of our hashbrowns packed up (we ended up feeding them to some ducks on the way home), and we packed a box for Buster with some hashbrowns, a bit of eggs and our last few bites of oatmeal. Franklin got the orange slices. We left around 9:00 and there wasn't a line up outside, but all the tables inside were full. I could imagine around brunch time it gets really busy there. Will I go back again? Most definitely. It was totally worth the early wakeup!
